It had several upper case letters stamped on it underneath the wood on the receiver and barrel. I may take it apart again and take pictures of those too. Lots
of numbers, symbols and letters everywhere undeneath the wood.
I didn't even look to see if the bolt matched or not until I got it home!
The other 91 has a mismatched bolt, but it shoots good, no sign of any issues at all and bangs the gong using surplus and handloads at 100 yards and my poor
vision.

Nice one Chuck, gotta love those 91s. I've never seen one with an F on it like that.

There is another one near me in a pawn shop tagged "British Mauser" for $180. It's bore is rusty, missing upper handguard, cleaning rod and the
bolt didn't match otherwise I would've made them an offer.

What gripes me when I think about it too long is that these probably went into pawn for $35-$45.....
Both shops know I like the old military bolt rifles and won't budge on the prices too much.
Then again, they still have them priced lower than what the "online" marketplace has them priced at, so I'm still happy.
Now to run into an M-28 or 28/30 for the same price range as these 91's have been!!

I do not know what the F means on the receiver - If it were on the barrel & a smaller font....most likely then that would be a chamber designation that one
would find on the earlier Finn models - On the receiver? The M91's that made it down to the "Balkans" sometimes had large letters stamped on the
receivers/barrels

"C" for example.

This is a buyers market now - Folks needing gas money or just $$ for whatever have put up for sale on auctions or shops some MN's not often seen. I have
added to my collection some pretty cool pieces for not too much $$.

My son saw/found a second DR stamp on the right side of the buttstock yesterday evening, it is very faint and can only be seen if you hold the stock "just
right". We missed it under the crud and price sticker goop on Thursday.
The bore looks like a brand new, freshly minted dime it is so bright now.
That silver paint really helped with that.....
Seriously, it turned out a lot nicer than I thought it was going to and it isn't counterbored.
This is the second Finn'ed 91 I've ran across locally in the past three months. Makes me wonder what's going on.
Both were pawn shop (different shops) rifles that someone had let the pawn run out and got the rifles put out for sale.
This puts me up to three Finn 91's and two Balkans now.
Three years ago, I didn't have one.

Here's a quick & dirty of the after....
It started raining again as soon as I stepped outside with the camera.
I tried to keep things close as far as size and perspective.
A little G-96 oil and a light touch with 0000 steel wool on the metal, then reoiled it and wiped the excess off.
I couldn't get a bore shot, it started to rain more than I was comfortable with having the camera outside.

It could stand some more work, but I'm happy with it the way it is right now...gotta save something for the coming winter evenings.

I hemmed and hawed a little, then went ahead and paid. Did the 4473 for no reason after we got home and took it apart to find the 1895 tang date......but of
course, you can't educate a shop owner about that stuff, they don't want to know.
The stock has the roughest Finn splice I've ever seen. The left side of the upper portion of the morphed stock sticks way out compared to the right side. It
looks like they literally grafted two stock halves together to make this one. The lower half was German capture stamped....
