I've read many good reviews but does anyone have a Tikka T3 here and can they share what they think about it?

I'm normally a single shot rifle and handgun deer hunter but I wouldn't mind have a nice accurate bolt gun back in the inventory.

I have a Tikka T-3 in .30-06 with a wood stock. I paid right around 500 bucks for mine. It is the most accurate centerfire rifle I have ever owned!! This gun is phenomenal, and one of the great things about it is that it does not wander POI as the barrel heats up. Buy it, they are great and the 6.5 Swede is a great caliber. I put a 3X9 Nikon with the little circles in the reticule and it works great for a 150 dollar scope. I spent almost a thousand dollars on a Browning X bolt in the medallion grade and it looks good but does not shoot quite as well as the Tikka.

With the CMP .30-06 ammo mine will do about an inch to an inch to an inch and one eighth. After sighting it in with the CMP ammo I checked it with cheapie Remington 165 grain Core Lokt ammo and it shot a 5/8" group right in the bull so I put it away and took it elk hunting.

The thing about the 6.5 is it is a rather long cartridge anyway so in that caliber it would be fine. I don't think I'd buy one in the 308 family length
of cartridge. I'd probably go short action and then probably go 260 Remington.

I've fired a couple T3's and they were both very accurate. My biggest grip against the T3 is the same long action size no matter the cartridge length.
I have four of the older 595/695 series Tikka which offered short and long action lengths. They took a few steps to save manufacturing costs over the older
Tikkas, but I still wouldn't hesitate to buy a T3 if I were in the market for a new rifle.

But mine's a Remington Classic in a camo synthetic stock. The round is just about perfect for deer.
