Shellac Flakes- Anyone Try Ruby |
Lead | |
|
I am looking to start an RPK project and want to take some Romanian furniture and give it that red soviet look. Reading through old posts it looks as if most
people use the garnet flakes for mixing up shellac to match the ruskie color. I didnt see any pics of finished rifles though. Looking at http://www.shellac.net/ it looks like they have some even redder 'Ruby' flakes for sale right under the garnet ones.
Has anyone tried these? Are they too red? Here is a pic of the ruby flakes unmixed Ruby and here is the Garnet unmixed. As I have always used premixed shellac I cant really imagine what these look like once mixed.
Any input- or pics from old projects- would be greatly appreciated!
