I'mmore partial to the Russian variety, better built, Ive had cycling issues with my chinaman /ak mags but better luck with standard chinesemodel. but they
are a blast to shoot if you dont have an AK and they youst to be cheap too. I remember back in 1992 in Salem, MO. they were stacked up by the crate next to the
Busch case sspecials for $89 at the liquor store.

I got into the SKS rifles very late. And I used to badmouth the Chinese rifles (bigtime due to some bad advice from my gunsmith buddy).
I have a formed a different opinion of them based on todays market and a less jaundiced eye.. Draybo |

I have owned a few different SKS's over the years - several Russians and 3 Yugos, but I now have 2 Chinese, and the outshoot every other SKS I have ever
owned.
What ever you prefer, the SKS is a reliable, solid rifle and I would pick it over a lot of newer designs if I had to do serious shooting. I am not allowed to hunt with an autoloading rifle (I live in PA), but I'd surely use my scrubbed Norinco SKS if I could. mark |

I'm hooked. They are, to me, the most fun to shoot.

ParallaxBill wrote:I agree. My first SKS was Chinese made and was terrible. It looked, felt and shot like a cheap gun. I don't know if this was an isolated incident confined just to the one I owned, but this rifle was terribly inaccurate. I got away from the SKS for many years, but bought a Yugo 59/66 yesterday. Looking forward to shooting it. |
