Went hunting last Tuesday. Didn't fare well that morning so came in for a lunch break. Left the Swede behind and took my Mak 90 out in the Palmettos because I heard something big crashing around there earlier. My friends land that I'm hunting on has a large hog problem. They been tearing up his orange groves and hiding during the day in the nearby palmetto patch. Went down a trail where I killed a boar about 3 weeks earlier with my M39. I kept hearing underbrush being rattled about like squirrels running around. Then I heard a loud spash in a ditch that seperated The palmettos from the woods. I eased down a game trail and saw a pig off to my left. I fired a quick shot but missed. All hell broke loose as the hog I fired at and 3 of his buddies scattered into the palmettos. One of them broke off and ran to the right across my path. I fire at her and she stopped like she hit a brick wall. The round hit her in the right shoulder shattering the bone and took out her lungs before exiting out the left shoulder. I got a little scary as other hogs were in the palmettos behind me, but they left the area after a couple minutes. Dragging her out was the fun part as the clearing that she was in looked like freshly plowed mud so throughly destructive the hogs have been. The bullets used were 123 grain Wolf HP's and had ample penetration. Damage was good despite ammo concerns. Hell of a way to find out if you ammo works or not. Distance was about 25 yards from where I killed her. Here's a pic of my prize. I was beat after dragging her to the truck.
