How did you determine thatThe easiest way to recognize an M91/59 is the rear sight which is the longer M91/30 type with all graduations above 10 milled off the leaf. http://7.62x54r.net/MosinID/MosinM9159.htm Is that it? |

It's the longer sight, the others are all too short. I'm surprised the 91/38 didn't keep it's original sight though. Why replace it when the
old one would serve just as well?

Nice collection.Is the 42 m38 a true laminate or is that the wood grain pattern ? I ask because i also have a 42 that looks like a laminate but is a
hardwood.TIA

The 41 and 42 are both laminate stocked.
The 41 has a look that is more like a German 98k laminate than the later Mosin-Nagant laminate stocks.
