Finally got an 03-A3! (Pics) |

A few weeks ago at the local gun show I was able to acquire a gun that I have wanted for MANY years. Of course I'm talking about the 03-A3... Through the
years I simply was unable to bring myself to pay the large chunk of change requried to get one (focusing on the $100 Mosin's & Mauser's instead).
But I finally bit the bullet and paid a very fair & reasonable price for this lovely example... The guy was even nice enough to give me a sling
free-o-charge (that he actually got off an M1941 Johnson lying next to it!).

That is a very handsome rifle Sir and Remington has very consistent quality and they made their 03s, 03A3s and 03A4s out of some tough steel!
I buy the regular '03s, but the 03A3 has much better sights. Nice find |

Congratulations, sir! Do you remember the old Lays potato chip ad? "Bet you can't eat just one"? Well... it does apply to M1903s, as well!!
How much did you pay? |

Don't be surprised if it's a real tack driver. My 03-A3 will shoot 'way tighter than I can see or hold. I have a 'replica' 03-A4 and when I
hang a 10X scope on it, groups hover around one inch. Iin general those guns with their two groove barrels are surprisingly accurate.

After looking at these pics again, I find that I must go downstairs, open the north gunsafe and "inspect" (fondle) some of the longguns ...

I'm assuming fromthe barrel date, the s/n is in the 3.4M-3.5M range? The stock looks correct, as well.

NICE A3! I like all of my C&R arms, but the US weapons have a special place in my heart.
Its nice to have a good peice of US military history. |

Hey! Sorry for the late reply. Thanks for all the compliments. I ended up getting it for $525. From what I understand that's a fair price...
Rick- You're spot on! You win a cigar
I'll try to post some range results someday when I get the chance... I'm just happy my M1 Carbine, Krag, and M1917 have a companion .
Now to get that Garand ... and 1903, and trapdoor, and 1911, and....
