I collect CR an Axis pistols but have a few bayonets. I'm looking for values so my wife doesn't end up using them for gaden tools or in the Penny
Saver for $10 each.
Thanks for your time, Joe |

Nice looking bayonets. I can't help you with values, but WELCOME to the forum!!
The power under the constitution will always be in the people. It is intrusted for certain defined purposes, and for a certain limited period, to representatives of their own choosing; and, whenever it is executed contrary to their interest, or not agreeable to their wishes, their servants can and undoubtedly will be recalled. All are reasonably common blades and with the possible exception of th e1905 not overly valuable. the best way to track prices is to go to EBAY and watch them
therir, but watch out as some of th ehigh prices are over eager buyers with little knowledge (io did the same 5 years ago) and schill bidders there just to
raise the prices

Hi,
The M4 looks odd to me, not U.S. G.I. What marks are on it? If I remember correctly the "back cut" line where the false edge ends (top of blade) should be rounded while this one is more straight. Also the back cut where the true edge ends should be straighter but this ones is more curved. I am going to guess this is one of the foreign produced M4s (Japan, Germany, etc), or less likely a repo? I may be wrong. In any case the M4 repos are in the $50 range and the foreign M4s are not far behind the U.S. M4s in value. All of these are valuable enough that I would never sell any of them without first researching their current Ebay value as oldsmithy advises.... All of these went up quite a bit in value in the last 10 years. |

All of your replies and opinions are appreciated. Thank you!!
I have to mention that the bayonet, M4, was purchased from an ex marine who fought in the Pacific during WW2. He said it was one of the few things he had left from the war. I assume he was telling me the truth ? I don't know enough to form an opinion. On the metal guard facing the blade, is marking of a flaming bomb, USM4 and Utica? The blade is very sharp. The reason for the curve on the blade. An important hand weapon too for all marines? Thanks again, Joe |

Hi, sorry for my bad memory: I was wrong regarding the back cut of the M4's true edge. The line where the true edge ends in usually more straight like
this M4's while repos are often rounded.
However the line where the false edge ends is usually rounded while this one's is straight. Perhaps the sharpening straightened it? On the other hand there may have been a version like this, I don't know. I am surprised a M4 collector has not come along to straighten this out? Here is a great web sight on M4s (and U.S. bayonets in general): http://www.usmilitaryknives.com/bayo_points_16.htm http://www.usmilitaryknives.com/bayo_points_17.htm http://www.usmilitaryknives.com/bayo_points_33.htm * Note the round line where the false edge ends in these photos. By the way, you have a nice quality bayonet collection.
Sorry I forgot: Welcome to this web board!!! |
