I shot 95 rnds and knew it the next day. I'm new to shooting and hopefully my accuracy will improve with time. This was only the 2nd time I've shot it and was pleased. I video'd it for myself but had enough footage to put this together. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_Xc6vjx8hTg It's not your typical "watch me shoot my rifle" video but has target footage. 4th shot is hard to see. It's in the first ring @ 6 o'clock. I had to watch it a few times to see it myself. I apologize for the sound being so low but it was the first time for me to try something like this. I hope you enjoy. The bullets are Yugo M30. I also shot some old light ball russian that grouped well but at 100 yds, the M30 shot 5" higher than the russian. I don't know how much this was a factor in the difference or if it was more the age (about 30 yrs) of the rounds. "Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. Posts: 2281 (07/18/09 07:33 PM) Veteran member Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	Make sure you snug up the action screws before you shoot & then clean your rifle as the ammo you used (just about all milsurp ammo is corrosive) is corrosive & will rust up the bore if not cleaned properly. As you know, rifles are particular to the ammunition used, so try several types of ammo to see what fires best in your M39. Pahtu.

Posts: 41 (07/19/09 09:06 AM) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	I ran a patch with a bore cleaner that had a little ammonia through after every magazine just to make final cleanup easier. You can see cleaning rod and patches in video. I didn't clean between last 3 or 4 magazines and groups went to crap from dirty bore, hot barrel or both. Final clean was done at the range with windex, more bore cleaner, lite oil, bronze brush, dry patches, repeat, reapeat, always breech to muzzle. Probably over kill but better safe than sorry. Cleaned bolt after I got home. The Russian and Yugo grouped about the same only 4-5 inches apart. Luckily the scope is fingertip adjustable 1/4 moa so with a little more experimenting going from one ammo to another. I was really amazed in the difference in the groups. Ammonia does nothing to the salt left in the barrel, it only helps with copper fouling. hsc Just saw the vid, loved the ending. And I commented and rated you. I have shooting vids also on there. Posts: 740 (07/30/09 06:20 PM) Veteran member Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	Water will clean corrosive salts just fine, but so will ammonia based bore cleaners. I've shot tons of corrosive ammo and cleaned with Hoppe #9 and never had any problems with any damage to my bores.

In my book water is great for washing up after shooting as in my hands but then that is just my personal preference. Like I always say there are many right ways to do things and we all have our right way. Bill

Posts: 501 (08/01/09 01:21 AM) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	After your range time is over,remove the bolt and take a bottle of window cleaner with ammonia and spray it down the barrel and let it run out the muzzle end.Spray down the bolt also and then put it back in the rifle and that will hold you over until you get home and clean her up. Been doing this method for 10 years and have yet to see any rust/fuzz etc... Robert The true instrument of death is the human being, not what tool he chooses to complete his work.

Posts: 3229 (08/16/09 10:56 AM) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	For the record, chemically speaking, water is what dissolves the corrosive salts. Hoppe's No. 9 is formulated to clean them up too, but I've heard mixed results on that. For some reason it seems to work for some people and not others. Way I see it, water's basically free and it takes only a few seconds to run a patch of warm water through the bore before going to No. 9. The ammonia istelf has some detergent properties but really is there to dissolve copper. 600racer: nice shooting! What kind of glass are you using?

Posts: 46 (08/16/09 11:58 AM) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	The scope is a 3-12 x 40something Burris pistol scope and one of Darrells mount. It's about the only LER scope that goes to 12x. As you can imagine using it on 12 power is a challenge so I like it at 9 to 10 power. I got it on sale from Natchez for like $250. I have Warne quick release rings so if I could use it on several rifles real easy if I wanted. The great thing about is that it has target turrets so making changes for distance or ammo is just a matter of practice and a little black book. I need more practice but fatigue is a problem, I have mild traumatic brain injury or MTBI. They are doing more research on it now because many of our brave soldiers are coming home with it because of IEDs. I do good to get my 40 in and just recharge on the weekend. I really want to be able to get good at longer range since I know the gun is capable of it. "Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. My neighbor is a retired chemist and he explained to me that the ammonia in the windex not only helps with the copper fouling, but it lowers the Ph of the water (remember Windex is mostly water), which helps it to dissolve the salts better.
