The gentleman selling the rifle said he thought it was a captured rifle. I paid $99.00 + tax for the rifle. I think I did pretty good. The gun is in great shape with matching #'s. It's by far the best Mosin I have. I don't know much about Finn Mosins. Were their stocks slimmer than Russian rifles? This has a slim stock. Can you tell me from the photos what I have here?

Posts: 468 (09/12/09 10:30 PM) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	It is indeed a fine example of a Finn rifle......joined stock, a "D" stamped on the receiver top, boxed "SA" on the side......sling hangers in the stock slots, tall blade front site...all are what you will find on "Finned" Russian rifles. These were used on Soviet made 'Transitional' M91/30s from 1930-32. The stock looks to have been refinished, which is a shame. Some people shouldn't be allowed sandpaper and varnish....

It's been through enough already. Besides, I bought it to shoot and that's what it's gonna do. If it makes you happy I do have crappy lookin' Mosins too.

I do also, but I call it historical character from rifles that have been there and done that. Nice shooter you have, I have no doubt it will be fun to fire. Post a range report when you can. Pahtu.

I have friends that are into modern weapons. They see my old weapons and don't understand why I collect them. I guess the term crappy would be more theirs than mine. They are a great bunch of guys though. I do enjoy reading about your finds on this forum.

Posts: 774 (09/19/09 10:23 PM) Veteran member Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	nice rifle, and a good price. a 32 izhevsk finn capture 91/30 was the rifle that got me into finn mosins back in 2002. after I got it home, I couldn't believe a 69 dollar rifle could shoot that well! found another one in a pawnshop that turned out to be a 27 tikka m1891, then found sites like this forum on the web. haven't looked back, either! congrats on the rifle, Keith

Posts: 206 (09/20/09 01:41 PM) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	Very nice Fin capture if you check on www.7.62x54r.net you may find that the "41" stamp on the right side of the date of your rifle is also a capture stamp, believed to be from the Continuation War. Congratulations and Happy Shooting!
