Thanks for a wonderful site with plenty of info.
I inherited my grandfathers service rifle a few years ago. It was sporterized but I will not discusse that in accordance with site rules.
When I inherited it there where almost no identifying markings on it. I was getting it registered and the gent I took it to had it for about 2 weeks before
he was able to identify with certainty (not sure how, the markings are so few) that it was a Lee Enfield No1 Mk3.
Well during the time he had the gun I purchased an identicle LE with full marking in all the right areas. It too was sporterized.
my questions
1) I think it fires .303 Brit but was told if it doesn`t it would be .303 Sav How can I tell
2) The fact my Grandfathers gun has very few markings does that mean anything with respect to LE history
Thanks guys
