Beech scales on Yugo m48 bayo? comparison pics |

I got this bayo with accessories to a 24/47. The grip scales are definitely neither elm or walnut being much blonder and blander of grain. Beech? Also, the
scabbard appears blunter than is the norm.

Does the scabbard have a BK acceptance mark? Do the serial numbers on the scabbard and bayonet match? It does look like the scabbard was converted from
another model.
These blonder scales may just be lighter elm scales? I have seen some elm scales close to this blond through very dark. IMHO the typical elm scales we see would would have be blonder if they were not soaked in cosmoline for decades. Nice M24b!

Those more closely resemble some oak than a Yugo elm, you know, a series of long axis running short dashes as it were? No other grain patterns evident.
There is no number on the scabbard. It was ground and not remarked. It looks like the number on the bayo was ground over leaving it faint. The grinding over all is crude. There's no "BK" but there is a partial stamp that looks like an upside down 'U'- in a triangle. This is described as 'P' "accepted from Military Control" by Branko. The M24B came off ebay for about $65. I saw it running low and said "I can't let that go that cheap" and snagged it!
