These were the auction pictures that I made my mind up on. Now I've got two (2) rifles waiting at home for me when I get back there.

Well, I bought a Carcano Type I the other day. It looked pretty good in the pictures, I've been looking for one for the last year, and the price was
"smoking," $225.00 and with shipping and all $260.00. I'm not going to complain, I just hope the bore is half way decent.

I was watching that auction, but ended up spending my "gun funds" on two other rifles. I think you got a good deal if it's as nice as the photos
and write up. It was run through on 7 day auction without selling, and I tried to dig up extra $$$ for it when it was relisted. I hope it's a good example
of the Type I, and you like it.

Most Type I's were found to be pristine after the surrender. They generally went into IJN arsenal racks and stayed there. The few that were actually put
onto Navy vessels and actually used as small arms equipment probably went to the bottom of the Pacific somewhere. Anyway, most Type I's were replaced by
actual T38s and T99s as arsenal production caught up by mid-War with military demands. Thus the I's were little used and were essentially new when finally
surrendered from the storage racks. Your bore should be like new if it's been oiled and stored carefully.

Eric, even being in the sand box doesn't break the addiction! As reward for what you're doing you need to have at least ten rifles waiting for you
when you get home.

That would be nice Carl, but my wife is already "annoyed" with me for this one and the VZ 52 that showed up after I'd shipped out. I think I'll have to wait until I get home for anything else. And anyway, I've got that "Smurf" H&K clone that I'm going to relieve Jason of. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

EB, you will love the way these rifles shoot, and they are as accurate as anything you can fire with iron sights. Stay safe, and thanks.
