Serial # 6558. I have "30" on the breech, top of the bolt, gas block and side of the mag follower. I also have a "Crown & 3 inside the
receiver, under the bolt. I have pictures if needed.
I'm also interested in buying a few more 49's. Let me know what calibre, condition and asking price. I'd like pix, too. Mike in MO FFL/SOT |

Thanks for your response. However, the question was whether you have a ".30" stamping on the floor of your receiver, just behind the hole for the hammer (as shown in the photo on the first post in this thread), and if so, is it surrounded by a box or is there no box ... Goose

Hello Recently picked up a FN 49 in 30-06. Wonderful shooter. I don't know much about it but I thought I might add to your survey what I do know. Serial
number 32378. All matching Ground crest on the receiver and a grind mark on the trigger guard left side. Both appear to have been done at the same time. Just a
guess though. I don't have your book yet, so disassembly to look for the boxed 30 in the receiver will have to wait. Just did a little more reading ahead
here and saw a post about a boxed 30 on the gas plug. There is a boxed 30 on this rifle on the gas plug on the R stamped side. Hope that helps. I gotta'
get your book. Where else might I look?

You have a Belgian contract rifle. Most of these in Canada and the U.S. have ground crests (exact reason is unknown).

(bump) Hello Goose, I just found the site (and question). I can't open the picture you provided, but I will describe what I can see. I have a Luxembourg
49, SN 1382. It has ".30" within a rectangular box on the "floor" of the receiver box, just (roughly 3.5mm) behind the oval cut for the
hammer. The box is not quite square to the bore axis and stamped so as to be read by a right-hander when holding the rifle. Hope this helps.

I dug mine out of the gunsafe. Serial No. 0664. 30-06 No .30 in a box or other wise.
