I thought the same thing; he must have some great connections.
Price is out of this world though. More than my mortgage payment. I guess there are still people around that could and will pay that, good for them, but I don't know any. Imagine being issued this rifle going straight into a combat area, would be hard to dull it up fast enough! |

Not on the two-way range!
You're right, that is a LOT of money, but it actually seems like a decent price, considering. And how in the world have they been in the US since before 1968? |

This is rich. I sent a fwd email to my buddies about the crazy prices, and instead of hitting fwd I hit reply, and it went to Dennis Kroh! He replied saying
snooze = lose. I think I'll snooze on that deal thank you!

These aren't cheap for sure. They are one of a kind too. I can see the price being very realistic. When have you seen something like this before?

Those are unique rifles, but not for me at that price. He does seem to be able to get above market prices on his more common items. I've got to give him
points for doing a good job of using his advertising dollars wisely (sponsoring forums) and marketing his products.

Beautiful rifles and if I had the means, I wouldn't blink twice. Of course as I'm not a 'collector', it'd be at the range toot sweet.
It may be that the prices are too high, given the market and economy, but desire is always a powerful motivator and coming from a trusted dealer helps too. Eli

If I had the money to get one, I would buy from Dennis in a heartbeat. He is one of the best dealers out there. I have to agree that he does do a fantastic job
of using his advertising dollars wisely by sponsoring forums and marketing his products.

Good thing is that you can usually see what the gun looks like on his website. And I think that he does check them over pretty good. It's the next best
thing to being there yourself. He roots out stuff that most of us would never find anymore. This must be a big adventure in itself. And it is your choice to
pay his high prices, although he's had some items that were competitive over the years. I do think that Mr. Kroh and similar boutique dealers are
partially responsible for driving up the prices across the board. The prime example is the Russian capture K98k Mausers that turned out to come over here in a
deluge. He must have known that was going to happen so made a killing in the meantime. Having said that, I wish him and his wife good health as it appears
that both are not in good shape.

Go look at Empire Arms' website.
Dennis has always been fair and very above board in customer service. I was missing the front sight assembly on an AG42B I got from him. I talked to him about a year later and sent a picture of my front sight. He sent me the part and a spare barrel as well. One of the major importers of Russian Capture (RC) K98ks was Tennessee Guns. Dennis made an arrangement with them to sort through their pile. They got their guns sorted and graded he got pick. Sounds like a good arrangement to me. To collectors it is a hobby. To the dealers it is bread on the table. |

Dennis is more than fair and above board in fact his discriptions tend to be understated, a gentleman of the old school.
Reminds me of a show at York, PA I went to some time ago and spent $350 on an all matching 1909 Brazilian Mauser not import marked w/ matching bayo in excellant condition looked to have never been issued. One does wonder how specimens like these have survived in the condition they are in. |

I have gotten several old rifles that were in pristine condition and not import marked over the years. Springfield M1 Garand, Smith Corona 1903A3, Winchester
U.S. model of 1917, Eddystone U. S. Model of 1917 and others of foreign manufacturer. All of the US rifles I mentioned came from the old DCM many years ago,
like half a century ago and were stuck in closets and such and never used by their new owners. Then when the old guys pass away or move into retirement homes,
these bang sticks are found and nobody in the family wants them and wants to get rid of them in the worst way, so they end up at gunshows or listed in the
paper in the classified ads section.
I also have several Mausers that were brought into this country back in the good old days of pre-1968 and they are not import stamped. Rifles in very good condition and not import marked are around, but getting harder to find as time passes, and the value of them is constantly going up and up. Curt |

Way out of my price range, but well within my drool range!!!
I don't think he will have any problem at all, selling all he has fairly soon. |

Just wish I had the $$ to get one or more, The price of any piece in such immaculate condition will only go up. Daresay, the only way you could ever find
anything near it's equal would be to get it out of a passing of a family member before it goes to an estate or auction sale. The price is reasonable if you
think about the near impossibility of finding such a treasure trove.

Over the years of collecting I've met or corresponded with several people who bought the unissued mauser rifles by the CRATE when they were available and still have them in their vaults. One fellow I spoke with showed me several consecutive numbered Argentine 1909's in almost new condition and they were his shooters. Said he had a crate he hadn't touched yet. I got the last one of his 24/30 Venezuelan rifles. He told me the whole crate of them, except the one I got, was sporterized and sold many years ago when that was the thing to do. Talked to another fellow a while back who had several crates of the 35 Brazilian rifles and bought one as new and perfect as the day it was packed up. I suspect that he finally sold the rest due to the economy. I ended up selling that one to get one I liked more. Folks these rifles are among the finest to bear the Mauser banner and only a small number were made. My 1935 is unissued with matching test target, bayonet, sling, muzzle cap. |

I don't see the fascination with these rifles. The only thing I see exceptional is a chance to hold a genuine new Mauser, from when quality mattered
& rifles were built to last; before stamped parts & wartime short cuts.
