One is the long version and three are carbines. I was just on the Springfield Sporters page, what stock related-items can I use that they list? Posts: 1362 (10/23/09 12:53 PM) Veteran member Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	Greg You might also want to check SARCO as they sometimes have Mauser parts in stock, though typically not as many as Springfield Sporters does, but just maybe they'll have something you need! There are a couple of other Mauser parts suppliers that I can't think of right now. I'll get back to you if I come up with any other names.

Posts: 178 (10/23/09 04:15 PM) active member Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	For a "correct looking" long rifle Steyr 1912 a Mauser Gewehr 98, Argentinian 1909 or Brazilian 1908 buttplate, stock disc & bolt, recoil bridge and both barrel band springs & barrel bands should work. Bayonet lug is short-style, so a 1908 one would do. Same for the rear sling swivel & bolts. Handguard looks the same as the one used in the 1908 and 1909. Cleaning rod is the same used by all Mauser 98 models with a 29+" barrel (I think it's about 15+" long; repros are available) Also check for parts on ebay, gunbroker and e-gunparts.com

Posts: 12554 (10/24/09 08:35 AM) Forum Site Moderator Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	I got tired of trying to find a correct or even sort of correct stock and mounted the carbine into an altered Turk stock..... A 98k stock will work, but the bayonet lug is too far forward to actually hold a bayonet to the barrel. They look pretty slick in a 98k stock too. It shoots well in both stocks, but the Turk stock was chopped to fit and allows for an 1895 bayonet to work on the end of it. At least it's complete and is functional, until a carbine stock falls into my lap one day.

Posts: 921 (10/24/09 07:30 PM) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	I am in a similar situation in needing Steyr model 98 parts and not succesfully finding them. suffering from 1912 LR envy after looking at the in the white gems certain unamed showoffs on this very forum repeatedly flashed in my face I acted. I had a refurbished and blued M/M 1912 LR with a ratty bore. Somebody over on the gunboardswts board had a very very nice ++ barreled action and bolt from a 1912 that was missing the stock, hardware and trigger and floorplate assembly. suffering from considerable degrees of pristine Chilean covetessness I fell hook line and sinker looking at the shiney in the white reciever with a pristine bore. I ended up buying it switched out my ratty bored and blued barreled action into a 1909 Brazillian stock set and now have a very m/m 1912 with the essential parts looking like they just came off the factory floor. thou shlat not covete they neighbors goods but i did anyway. Shoots as good as it looks. good luck finding steyr parts. I have consulted everyone i could think of with no luck. I will add that a 1909 Brazillian stock and related hardware are identical except for the markings. gil

Here is what I have, order was for the one on the left. http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d198/letsgo118/Barrelledreceivers2.jpg The 98/22 stock I bought over a year ago and I guess I'll keep it in that until I find something better. I may end up just keeping one of the carbine units there on the table....either restoring it or putting it into a hunting stock with a rear sight scope mount. hsc

I was looking for a Venezuelan carbine handguard...they did not have it listed, but after the phone call I was able to get it:)

Posts: 348 (10/31/09 02:38 PM) Veteran member Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	Guys: 1912 Chilean stocks are listed at GPC, but they are a bit worn, the cleaning rod for the Chilean is just like a WW 1 98, the Argentine rod is unique to Argentine modelo 1909, they are not interchangeable. It is my goal to get these guns and all the other projects I have awaiting attention done before the spring. hsc
