....but all it really needs is replacement sight blades to get it back to a decent M27, the finest of the S&W's in my book.
After installation of the new sights. I still need to drill and pin the front blade in these photos.

After I broke off the silly bubba fiber optics
 I saw that the rear blade was hand drilled off set to the notch and the front blade looks to have been
filed with a rat tail file also well offset from the blade. Truly a bubba mod if there ever was one.

Just ordered the replacement sights from Brownells. Hope to have it ready for "after" pics soon.

At an auction last week, I was so surprised at the highest bids on a brand-new-in-the-presentation-box 27-2 that I, well...bought the darned thing. (The only
milsurp was a pristine Type 99, and that came home too.) What a beautiful piece of weaponry...I get to take it out to the range tomorrow. Can't wait.
Luckily, I didn't have any funky fiber optic sights to deal with first....(if I hadn't seen your pics, Bill, I wouldn't have believed it.) Hope
these pistols shoot as good as they look, because mine looks like Sela Ward on her BEST day ever. Gives me shivers.

8 and three-eights, maybe? What a wonderful shooter! Bill, I hope you are able to get to that front sight soon and take it out for a spin- these are something
very fine, very special. Like Sela Ward and Dana Delaney all in one. .38 specials, .357 casts with gas checks, JHP hot loads...it all shot very well. Doc is
right- elegant, classy, effective.....
 Maybe reaching that point in my
life where fine things are appreciated a bit more than formerly, but I'm thrilled.

Bill I have had mine out and it shoots well. I still need to sight it in for whatever kind of ammo it likes best but I love that long sight radius and the
balance of the pistol for offhand shooting. It's one of the best buys I have ever made in a used pistol.
