Posts: 243 (10/31/09 10:14 PM) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	Tags : None Gents, I need your opinions again. Still searching for that rifle. Walked into a deal today. Don't have too much time to think about it. A used Browning 'A' bolt rifle. However, the gun is brand new, only a few rounds have been put thru this gun. It comes mounted with a real nice Leopold scope (not the low end version). Rifle is blued with oiled wood stock. Gold trigger and gold Browning emblem engraved on the trigger guard. Bore is very bright and shinny. No scratches, dents , or marks. Caliber is 7mm WSW (I was originally looking for 30-06). The whole deal totals out to less than $700. What is you opinion on this rifle? I think Browning has always been up there with the best. Deal or No Deal ? Volga

Brownings are nice, way above my meatloaf budget, but still a very nice rifle. If it isn't a caliber you're wanting, it might be good to pass and wait it out for "the" right one. What are the gunbroker & other on line auction site prices for Browning A-Bolts. I think that would determine if $700 for the whole kit & kaboodle is good to go or not.

The other A-bolts in various calibers are ranging from $600 to $1400. It looks like that is a fairly decent price, but always check to see if they'll come down a little (or a lot). Around here, it isn't the best time to be buying a hunting caliber rifle with rifle season just around the corner, even with the "state of the economy".

A little more expensive than 30-06. Like you said, I originally thought to pass on this due to the availability of ammo. I am guessing that this round will become more popular as time goes by ? I went and looked on gunbroker. You are right, the price seems like a pretty good deal. I am totally impressed with the Leopold scope too. I would have to say that the scope probably cost $200 or more. The rifle is in pristine condition too. I tried to 'negotiate' him down on the price, but he would not go for it. I am thinking of taking the jump. Brownings are real quality rifles !! Thank you Chuck. Volga

Posts: 791 (11/01/09 02:36 PM) Veteran member Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	You didn't say which Leupold. The scope alone would be a $150 to $350 value fairly easy. I don't think that caliber holds the resale value of some others, but for $700.00 you'd be o.k. on the deal.
