Posts: 1038 (10/30/09 02:18 AM) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	Robinson Arms made a Stoner clone (M96 Expeditionary Rifle/carbine) that takes AR15/M16 magazines. It is a nice copy and shoots pretty well, but it was pretty expensive at the time and didn't sell well. It's currently out of production, however I guess if enough people were to ask about buying one they might put it back into production. Myself, I've always wanted a C96 that had a grip like a 1911, in .45 ACP, that took M3 Greasegun magazines. I don't see why they wouldn't be willing to make one for a common Martini caliber as well. Check out Buffalo Arms to find the makers (Lee Shaver and Dave Crossno I believe) of the adaptors, then maybe you culd contact them directly to see what might be available.

Posts: 5522 (10/30/09 09:22 PM) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	A .223- 5.56 revolver A company like Uberti to make repros of some of the more obscure cap and ball revolvers of the 1840-1870's era........like the British DA Adams revolvers, a real, 100% correct Remington-Beals repro, and also for USFA to finally offer the 1858 Remington they have been talking about for years now, the rumor is it was "Licensed" by Remington and so bears the "Remington & Son, Ilion NY" stamp and USFA makes it out of modern steel. A DA modern 4"+ revolver in 9x18 Makarov. I don't think this caliber would work in the 9mm Para revolvers, I never tried it (don't have a 9 wheelgun) Dream AMMO- For Wolf or Barnaul to make some cheap steel case .38 Special and .357 Magnum ammo, I don't know why they haven't, it would be dirty but it's harder to choke a wheelgun than the auto's I fire their 9x18, 9x19 and .45 in until they are caked in soot, so I think cheap Wolf .38 would be good training or range ammo. There is no hard extraction and so no extractor stress like on the semi-auto's, and CCI makes an aluminum case .38+P so I don't see expansion of the case being an issue.

Incidentally, would this just be, say, an insert the length of the chamber or an insert and a barrel sleeve? The problem with the latter in the Martini-Henry is that you have a "blind" action...you can't stick anything down the barrel from the breech end unless it's about the length of the cartridge. That doesn't mean you couldn't get a barrel insert in there, though...in theory, if you threaded the front of the chamber insert and then inserted the sleeve (with the breech end threaded to fit into the .22 LR chamber) from the muzzle end, screwing it in with an Allen wrench-like device (kinda like what one does to screw in choke tubes), then I don't really see an inhibition to that. Regardless, even if it is just a chamber insert, it would be really fun to plink with.

Working class Repro Remington Rollingblock carbines, 30-30, 30-40 Krag, 348 and other working class rifle cartridges at about $500 The Ruger XGI. as promised decades ago, basically a Ruger M-14.

Ruger had planned to offer a "beefed up" Mini-14 in .308 and .243 called the XGI (get it? ex-GI) in the mid-80's. They even went so far as to build prototypes and put them in their 1984/85 catalog. However, legal issues (I think Springfield sued them), design problems, and other "things" made Bill Ruger drop the product, and the XGI was dead. I had the catalog with this rifle in it, and it was supposed to be the "M1A beater". AR or FAL type rifles in 6.5 Swede and 7mm mauser, just because I'd like to see how they'd shoot. Also a modern stainless M39 with a quality peep sight and removable magazines, 5, 10, 20 rounds, for those of us that like the M/N action. I also would like to see quality but reasonably priced .22 WMR 'long' and 'short' ammunition that would allow WMR owners to shoot at lower power levels without the expense of the difficult to find .22 WRF ammo. .22 WMR is too powerful for squirrels and cottontails and WRF is as I wrote, expensive and hard to find. Posts: 5525 (11/02/09 07:25 PM) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	I have seen the semi-auto MP40's advertised in Shotgun News, there's a standard barrel length with a welded "closed" buttstock sold as a pistol and a "carbine" with the legal 16" barrel so as not to make it an SBR. It looks awesome, but without the "fun switch" would to me not be worth the $7K pricetag I believe it carries. I have lots of fun with my 16" Thompson semi-auto, but even it seems just like a very heavy .45 ACP carbine that does the same thing a Beretta Storm carbine or Ruger PC does, just much cooler looking and the Tommy is actually a very functional firearm, not just a "toy" but an accurate, reliable and durable weapon. For a time I played with the idea of getting a semi-auto M240b but again, the price of the thing ended all thoughts of that.......a working Joe like me couldn't justify dropping like $12,000 on a belt fed 7.62 semi rifle.

No way I'd fork over that kind of cash for one, but I would like to check it out. I also have a 16inch semi Thompson. I have the M1 version. Had it since 1984. I have to admit I was disappointed in it. It's beautiful, nice polishing and bluing. Wood is great and it is accurate to point of aim. But......the 16 inch barrel KILLS it, for me. And the semi auto only function kind of makes it a big ole heavy "pistol". If it had the proper length, 10 inch barrel it would be a heck of alot better. Even as a semi only. I haven't shot it for 20 years. It does fill that "niche" in my collection, so it stays, but is a safe queen. Still looks absolutely brand new. Armed Infidel

Still would be neat to own one though. The suggestion fro this topic I had was for the MP44 in semi but it is not avalible in the US too bad maybe someday.

Someone asked why I didn't carry a repro Trapdoor Springfield in my SA war impression, I pointed out the repros cost twice what I paid for my originals.
