Beretta 92fs Police Special Are they good? |

Any one know if this is a good price for a NIB with Night Sights 9mm $590.00. And how would you rate them on a scale of 1-10.

Sounds just a bit high price-wise, but I love my 92 FS and even went out and bought an M-9 (same gun, different sights) to play with. Never had a single jam-
never. Accurate and handy, fits the hand well. Good choice!

Price is about on par, it varies regionally. I was fully ready to pay about $550 for an Italian made 92FS last winter, Gander Mt. had a choice between the one
made in MD and the Gardone, Italy made model both about the same price. Last I checked only the US made one was still there. It was between the 92FS and a
Glock 17, I went with the Glock 17 thinking it would be the more "utilitarian" choice and was glad I did, but now I still want a Beretta! If given a
choice for a 9mm that will last forever, I will have to go with the Glock, although the cool factor of the 92F is so much higher. I don't know if older
military issued M9's are available as "surplus" but I would like to get one.
I am no huge fan of Taurus, but the older Taurus PT92's are pretty much clones of the old original straight Beretta 92's, with the newer PT92's being a variation of the 92F. Kind of a way to get a Beretta clone on the cheap, I have seen used Taurus 92's for $200. Resale for "Tauri" is nil and at least the Beretta will hold it's value, as in a Taurus loses 75% of it's resale after the first round is fired. I guess a local PD here in PA just dumped some 96D's, I have seen a few of them for about $400 or so, I almost bought one but the DA only "anti-lawsuit police anti-ND" action didn't appeal to me. Makes as much sense to me as a full size duty revolver with a bobbed hammer made into a DAO, which is no sense at all other than to idiot proof a revolver so a barely trained "non gun person" cop doesn't cock the hammer and shoot someone by accident.

I'd say that's a fair price for a NIB 92FS with night sights. The dealer price on a 92FS without night sights is a little over $500 right now, so that
price doesn't sound bad at all.

There is a nice report on the M9/92FS in the December issue of American Rifleman. You might want to check it out. Good report. David
