Can;'t post pix, but got a S&W Model 39, steel frame, and a 39-2. Also got a sorta weird S&W 38 Special Victory with 6 inch barrel, BNP proof and
an FTR 53 mark! Can't make sense out of it, possibly rebuilt in Britain. No importer's mark.

Not exactly C&R but cool anyway:
Top is my Colt upper (supposedly one of the first 16k to be issued ) preban on a EA lower. It was lonely, however. So, I bought it's big brother, a DPMS LR308 B (18" bull barrel) to shoot up a bunch of my 7.62 x51 NATO surplus. It's what the AR should be! Super accurate, 11 pounds 4 ozs of superior firepower. An excellent zombie shooter to be sure! Rome

We exported S&W Victory models to both Canada and Australia; not sure if we did for Great Britain. Australia I know for a fact FTR-marked its guns when they were rearsenalled. Does your gun have a Broad Arrow in a letter "D" anywhere on it? |

Thanks, Francis, S&W made 927 of them and released them in three batches; mine is from the second batch. It's in really nice shape, almost as nice as
the guns you picture. Has the box and spare mag too. Both mags are the proper ones with stamped followers, the edge of the stamping uppermost. I gloat.
Dalkowski. No broad arrow D on it. I think the BNP proof indicates it went to England. I don't think there were 6 inch barreled 38 Special Victorys; this one may have been a 38/200 that picked up its 38 Special barrel and cylinder during a rebuild for commeercial sale in the US. The cylinder is numbered to the gun, but the numbers are in two groups of three figures each, on either sides of a chamber. The barrel has the lass three digist of the SN, not the complete SN. It also has a small diamond mark, which may indicate it was a replacement barrel. The guys on the S&W forum think it's a replacement barrel, and urge me to get it lettered. I'll do it, but I haven't found my 'round tuit' yet. |
