I have a question which I'd like to humbly submit to the forum members.
When I fire more than 3 rounds out of my 98 Mauser I have to ratchet the hell out of bolt handle to get it in the vertical position to extract the spent casing and chamber a fresh round. To the best of my knowledge the bolt assembly is properly lubed so I can't see why this is happening. It appears to be a heat issue due to the fact that once I let the rifle cool off the problem dissipates. After each round fired the bolt mechanism gets progressively harder to operate. After the third round I literally have to place my left hand on the weapon and use considerable force with my right hand to work the bolt. Something isn't right.
Any answers as to why this is happening would be most welcome!
