I've always wanted to see the U-505 so why not this winter? I could take a train......I don't know anyone up that way to stay with though, a drag. hsc

We stayed right off Michigan Ave. Too many weird people. Probably all gun haters. I felt naked without my sidearm. Everything is expensive and the sales tax is oppressive. We took the city bus to get to Field Museum, Shed Aquarium and Ayde Planetarium. We didn't make it down to the Museum of Science and Industry to see the U 505 which was a planned part of the trip. We simply couldn't make the bus connections. A cab ride would have cost about $75 to get there and back. We didn't do the Sears Tower but did go up on the John Hancock this morning. The Field was interesting with the full mount African Elephants and Sue the T Rex. The Lions of Tsavo were on display as well. The Egyptian stuff was good too. All of the exhibits were politically sanitized to the point of almost being sickening. During our visit the place was invaded by several bus loads of Jr High age ''children". They were all out of control and very disruptive. I got fed up with it and we left. No milsurps or guns in the city proper. We did go down to the old Marshall Field store on the "Loop". To think at one time they had a pretty extensive sporting goods department. We went because my wife needed to attend ASTRO or the American Society of Therapeutic Radiology and Oncology meeting. In my humble opinion, Wright Patterson is a much cooler place for viewing all matter of military wares. It's a good 2 day event if you take the time to check out and read all the displays. Greg
