Good news at FEDEX |

I went to ship a gun the other day with FEDEX. I had not used their service for 6 months or so mostly using the USPS. Anyway when filling out their form
for ground shipping they didn't ask what was in the package. Although I had enclosed a copy of my C&R and a copy of the FFL dealer I was shipping the
rifle to and everything was above board and legal I still cringe at the enevitable questions. Is it in a hard case, no regs don't require it, is it
unloaded, yes, are you a dealer, yes,is the receiving person a dealer, yes, do you have a copy of your FFL, yes, and this or any other questions the clerk can
come up with or make up rules on the spot. Since they don't ask whats in the box anymore no questions. This was the exact reason I had been using the
USPS to avoid such questioning and confrontation. I always follow the Federal laws and the carriers rules but darn I hate the 3rd degree and made up rules.
Good on FEDEX!!!

Good for you!
I've recently had similar results at the UPS hub here in Hartford. I shipped an M17 unfired S&W .45 revolver to a collector down in NC using overnight, of course. The young lady (who seems to always wait on me) signed the insurance form (over $1000 valuation requires a signed receipt from UPS) and asked me what was in the box. I told her a revolver. She said, "I'm sure it's not loaded" to which I replied of course not. Off it went arriving in perfect shape for the new owner the next morning. Piece-o-cake. They never ask me for my license or the recipients license or any other stuff. They sure do make it easy. I love it when things go as they are supposed to. Rome

You can get a Fedex.com online account, pack, weigh, print your own labels, and drop it off at any fedex center of Fedex Office (ex-Kinkos), NO Questions! 10%
discount.
UPS problem is the UPS stores will not accept firearms and I've found the people at the UPS company shipping counters a PITA. One encounter involved a letter to the corporation and an official apology. After that each new clerk still had to be told by the supervisor to accept firearms and antiques. |

I, too, avoid any UPS Store like the plague. Usually they're staffed with power-hungry retirees. They wouldn't even accept a stock blank from me one
time. But, the hub at the airport is great. FedEx is also great here and I have used them as well. I also have accounts with both and use my computer to
generate all labels and receipts. Some items of high value, however, have to be signed for and that's why I go directly to the hub.

After a Myriad of problems with Fedex both sending and receiving I avoid them like the plague and recommend them to no one. I also dislike UPS so I am reduced
to USPS and after training the local anti-gun clerk by just going over her head over and over she now grudgingly takes my shipments and excepts my
interpretation of the postal and national laws. We even talk about local problems and concerns at times and the amazing thing is we agree most times! Had my
fill of UPS and Fedex a couple of years ago and hate to order through on-line sources and such when next day Fedex or such is the way the company delivers and
I tell them that too. Good Luck because it is only a matter of time before they screw something up. Bill
