She has a carry license, has taken a class at a local gun shop, and is pretty handy with a pistol.
I'm leaning toward a small .38 Special revolver for mainly simplicity and reliability reasons.
Any other ideas?
Thanks
Lamar

My wife and I are about to buy our 21 year old daughter a handgun for personal protection. She works in a trendy but crime ridden area of Atlanta. Not where I
want to live but.....

If it's going to be a revolver how about the S&W .357 Model 60 with the 3 inch barrel? A little more weight for stable handling and she can load +P .38
Special loads or hotter as she desires.

These things always turn into a listing of peoples favorite guns, but what I suggest, is letting HER pick the gun.
Just take her down to a well-stocked gun store and let her pick what SHE wants. |

69396, good choice I second your opinion.

I agree with the revolver, along the lines of what griggs said, but dfariswheel said it all. It is her ultimate choice with what she will be comfortable
shooting. Perhaps a trip to an indoor shooting range that offers several types of revolvers to try. If no facility in your area, try borrowing several types
from friends to try.

I agree with the 38 special revolver. Too many non gun people want a "9 mill" or "cocked and locked 45" because they read the mall ninjas
on the net talking about how cool they are or saw them in a movie. A good revolver is reliable and pretty easy for the novice to master.

I appreciate the input. We are in the process of having her shoot different handguns before buying.
She really likes my Ruger .22 auto but understands that more horsepower is a requirement. Lamar |
