Great trip to board members over the weekend and we traded rifles and I now have a nice VKT 1944 vintage in a post war stock. Nice looking rifle with a nice
bore too, should be a good shooter! Has post war stock which I do not favor but will accept. I will trip to the range when time and now weather allows. You
know me and pictures so don't ask, maybe the member has file pictures? Seems like I am on a trip in M39's here as of late, all local shows and contacts
3 of them came home with about $100 a piece and a trade spent on them. They are lacking some parts so I have some work to do for awhile here but then what is
new Huh? It seems to be what I enjoy so I welcome it! Cheers to all! Bill

What a great rifle! Love the multiple plugs, that would have grabbed my attention as well. Post war stocks are rather "Ho Hum", but the plugs are
neat.
Lol...."Satisfy" Pahtu?...only if it was in Yakima getting it's picture taken! usrifle |

Now this may sound far fetched, but it is the gospel truth. About seven years ago I was at a small gun show and there were two M-39's being offered. I
bought the best looking one, but noticed the one I passed on had almost the identical series of plug patches to the buttstock. All in a row just like the one
pictured. It sort of reminded me of a machine gun stitch job on a target. So it must have been a more common than we think of type of repair. Either that, or
the rifle grew legs and made it from North Idaho to West Virginia!

You never know where these rifles have been, including Idaho and Virginia! I know i have sent more than a few around the country.
Must have been a surface crack after the stock has been shaped? Interesting to see the pattern they used, from left to right they put in the 1st, 3rd, 5th, 7th and 9th plugs first. Just a very interesting repair. Looks like it has a purdy Handguard too. usrifle |

Great looking rifle, Bill. I personally kind of like the plugs. And they only make that area of the stock stronger (and I believe they relieve internal stress
in the wood and keep it from splitting in the area around the plug). I don't have too many M39's, and people tend to view them as less-collectible than
M27's, M28's, 28/30's, etc. but the fact is that the M39 is the culmination of all the lessons-learned by the Finns.
