U.S. Model of 1917 stock question |

I just acquired a nice M1917 Eddystone rifle with a '42' on the end cap of the stock, rather than a letter, such as E, R, or W. Anyone know what this
signifies?
Thanks, Pat |

i think its a refurb stock , but i will gladly step aside to anyone more in the know on this particular stock , the originals were all marked "E-R-W"

That's what I originally thought, but a few posters on another forum believe that the numbered stocks were from subcontractors. Either way, I don't
know enough about these to say, and it's really just a matter of curiosity for me.
