The rifle is a 1944 Izhevsk M44 beater that is probably one of my most accurate and reliable rifles. The ammunition was HotShot 180gr sp. The shot was about 60 yards +- from the back door of the house. Night before last I got a doe from the same position, weapon and ammunition.
Whats was interesting to note, the bullet went in and didn't come out, but turned the heart to mush. Also the bullet did not stay in tact and pretty much exploded in each case. We could not find a main piece of it. Could be in the gut piles? or whatever. They did hit very hard and they did their job well.
