Some of you are also aware that my conditions are connected with military service and that I have been long struggling with VA. Well, the beast has been brought to heel. VA has finally granted the full extent of my claim. My life and that of my family will be much improved from here onward. I have been debating about whether to say anything. It is personal and has nought to do with the subject of this site. But over the years I feel quite a camaraderie has been established. Nothing can correct my health problems but at least they are not life threatening (never mind the details) but have had a horrific effect on my, and my family's, quality of life. That has now been changed. I just wanted to share my relief, and joy with the many here who have become as friends, known or not so known. To all, thanks for whatever reason. I'm just feeling really grateful at the moment. Now, there's a gunshow this weekend and I do have a little money to spend... Diplomacy is the art of saying nice doggie until you can find a rock. It is sad that it has taken soooooooo long for you to receive the justice that you are truly due, by those who owe you so much! I am glad that it has finally come for you, but embarrased that you had to wait and fight for it. There are so many others in the same boat, and I certainly hope their ship comes in as well. Glad we are now doing for you what we should have been doing all along. I truly hope this makes this Christmas a very special one for you and yours! Congratulations, and thanks again!

Posts: 507 (12/11/09 05:21 PM) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	Just a thought: I to have in the 20 years of active duty received some hard knocks, pushes, falls and falled upon. when I retired I was in Korea and at an assignment at a small camp up near the DMZ. I had my Retirement physical in our little treatment room by one of the 2 Doc's. So happened that the nite before I had taken these two out to a small town for some evenings entertainment that Officers and maybe gentlemen weren't supposed to be enjoying. But, I was the old all knowing NCO who had spent over 8years in Korea and knew all the back alleys and hot spots known by very few Americans. Needless to say both the Doc and I were so hungover he just took my BP asked if I was still breathing and would I survive the farewell and retirement parties to be able to get on the plane back to the good old USA. I had no big problems at the time and that was my last physical. Hell, I didn't say anything about getting two tanks blown-up and the pains and pops in my ankles, knees and back pains. That 10 years in tanks had blown out my eardrums and my ass was split several times bouncing on steel hatches. I went to the VA about 8 years later and they gave me a stack of forms to fill out, which at the time I was just too busy making a living to get done. Well, I am now retired again and all these old pains are back and I have had two back surgury's and am now a walking BBQ spit, with ringing and screaming in my ears. Heck, it takes me more time to bend over to slip on my shoes than it used to take to hump a half ton of main gun ammo off a truck!! I went back to the VA Service center here and again they listened to my story and looked at my records that I had kept and reordered and said I should put in a claim. It is so much BS and paperwork I just don't have the gumption to start it. I get two checks each month from the Fed and what the hell, I just don't feel like spending what time I have left trying to **** out the tons of paperwork. I have a lot of respect for you Nug as I just ain't got the patience and energy you have. Aubullet: You are so right! I agree 100% I am very glad that justice was (forced to be) served. Like you say your medical issues are the same, but the load if off you and your family from a financial point of view. I'm also glad the the government you voluntarilly served is making it righ with you regarding your service related injuries. Time to go shopping, if you ask me!

I'm glad you have taken an upturn in life, it always angers me when veterans who have injuries get blown off or have to go through red tape just to get some GD medical care. It seems sometimes that illegal aliens get better care in this country than people who have served in the armed forces.

He will not discuss the War hardly at all other than to sing the praises of the BAR. He pooh-poohs the M1-Garand, and says that the BAR "is so sweet, it will talk to you, but you need a Private to help you carry it". My wife deals with the V.A. mess on his behalf on an on-going basis. He's 77, and just had knee-replacement surgery that took the V.A. over 36 months to approve. Keep in mind that the same Gub'Mint that administrates the V.A., tells us that they now want to run the Health-Care of ALL of us... I think they need to fix the V.A. before they worry about the rest of us... (the Vets come first!) Once we see our Vets treated properly, then we might be able to trust them. Sorry...
