The rifle that Melvin Purvis (Christian Bale) used to shoot "Pretty Boy" Floyd in the orchard scene appeared to be either a 32 Winchester or a 30-06, but what was the rifle make and model he was firing? It had a beaver tail style bolt handle on it, and almost looked like a Mauser variant. Any ideas?

Posts: 1399 (12/13/09 01:26 PM) Forum Co-host Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	It is indeed a quite beautiful commercial or guild '98 action sporter. You can, at least in theory, even ID the caliber. Purvis ejects a spent casing that seems to be too long to be an 8mm Mauser. It looked more like a .30-06, which might be indicative of an "Exportmodell" or "Amerika Modell" sporter. I will say this: I could see Purvis shooting anything from a Griffin & Howe to a Newton to a Fred Adolph to an R.F. Sedgley in terms of fine sporters, but even an Exportmodell, at least for government work, is kinda suspending disbelief.
