Due to the main focus of this site on the collecting and shooting
of C&R and military surplus firearms in their collectible original configurations,
sporterizing topics (ex. "how-to sporterize", or "hey, check out my cool sporter") will not be permitted in these fourms.
Thankyou,

Bound book question |

Is it permitted and do any of you practice putting the info on non C&R guns in the Bound Book. I was thinking about this and feel it would be another
great way to keep a record for insurance purposes. Thanks David

I don't believe you are allowed to put non C&R guns in your official bound book. Nothing to stop you from printing the pages and keeping them in
another book though, just don't mix.

You don't want anything extra in your log to confuse a BATFE auditor when he is trying to compare your book to your collection of "auditable"
C&R firearms. As mentioned, just keep a separate set of books with your Non-C&R firearms logged on similar pages.

Not having a C&R license, but a Class I, I can't really answer that question. however I will say that on my license EVERYTHING that comes into my shop
is added into the bound book. The only exception that I can remember was a Remington 700 BDL that I purchased from Bi-Mart (for my own use) during their winter
sale, after hunting season.
It wasn't as expensive as purchasing from a distributor w/shipping as Bi-Mart buys "in bulk". Cost $20.00 less than ordering from any distributor. As it's on a 4473 with Bi-Mart I never added it to my books. I imagine one of these days an over-zealous BATF agent will arrest me and confiscate my "goodies" for possessing a firearm not on my books. And this includes the firearms I purchased before I applied/received my license, of which there are four or five pistols. One can research the FAQ's on the BATF's website. There is a lot of good information there, fairly accessable for those of us who continually struggle with these dag nab computer devices, and curse daily at them. eb
