.308 BR? A friend called tonight and said he sized and prepped a box of .308. When he went to prime them, lo and behold they took a small rifle primer. He
then read the box and it said .308 BR and the brass said the same thing. It is Remington brass. What is this stuff?

Not word for word so I don't go to jail.
The 308BR case was not intended for regular 308 in it's original full length form. It's intent was to supply a 308 Winchester case with small primer pocket and thin walls so the hand loader could re size for the much shorter .22 BR, 6mmBR and the 7mm BR cartridge"s. Read it in a book, so don't hold me to it. shotout.

Still a .308 case. Meant for Bench Rest competition, and to be a parent case for other rounds.
Should be fine if used in any .308 rifle. just uses a smaller primer intended to improve ignition for tight groups. eb

I had friends who would kill for 308 BR brass. But they eventually started shooting 6mm's.
The small primer brass is great stuff. And small primers will reduce your group size, by 25%. The source of that information was a Wimbleton Cup winner. He also told me, expect misfires in cold weather. So, it has its ups and downs. |
