I took a chance with a Samco bolt action barreled receiver, and am very pleased with the product I received.

Arrival of new 24/47 bolt action receiver from Samco |
Lead | |
|
I recently had an FFL friend order me a Samco 24/47 barreled bolt action receiver. It arrived last week, and exceeded my expectations. It was in EXCELLENT
condition, even though I paid for one in "VERY GOOD" condition. The lands and grooves were flawless, as were the metal and blueing. I already had the
barrel rings, stock, etc, and this receiver will now be turned into another 24/47 Mauser. The stock I had was stained dark brown by cosmoline, and a
combination of oven cleaner, mineral spirits, sand paper, steel wool, and elbow grease turned it into a beautiiful walnut stock. I used Min Wax Spar Varnish to
re-finish it, and it turned out to be a beautiful honey colored finish. I had to take off the front sight protector shroud to get the barrel rings on, and will
put it back on with a pair of snap ring pliers ( I've had to do this before). I will re-blue the bayonet lug and the barrel rings starting tomorrow, and
will be shooting reloads out of it hopefully before Christmas.
I took a chance with a Samco bolt action barreled receiver, and am very pleased with the product I received. Happy Holidays one and all.

Just recall that the processes you describe would be considered "sporterizing on a whole, original condition weapon and discussion of such would not be
permitted on this forum.
