Even with America's problems of those time life seemed so simple and predictable compared to now. We married in 1976 and the changes even since then have been astonishing. Looking back, those changes have not all been good. I get depressed thinking of the changes. The "relationship" never "took"; been a loner all of my life and by the grace of God things have gone reasonably well for me. I've felt that America has a "self-correcting" feature in its sometimes wayward progress; the good faith, ability to work hard, think clearly and the intellect of my fellow Americans but I see a "hard row to hoe" in the next many years which will challenge us, our children and our grandchildren in getting America back to its pre-eminent status.
