Can you guys take a look at these pics and offer an opinion as to how close to original this H&R might be? From my understanding this is the commercial model that followed the wartime 58C (?) parkerized military trainers, and came before the later 50's military model with the Garand-type safety in the trigger guard. The stock on this one looks to have a lot more figure than most I've seen, and the pistol grip contours are a more defined than on the H&R 65s in most common pics. Also, I'm unaware whether these commercial 65s had the receivers drilled and tapped from the factory but it would surprise me if they were. Original or not, I had to have it so damn the price and today was the first chance for a test fire. 100% function with the two types of ammunition tried and excellent 50 yd accuracy with CCI Mini-Mags. One 5-shot group cut a ragged cloverleaf of .450". Anyway, what do you think? Restocked, and drilled and tapped sometime in the past?
