I am currently looking to acquire what I think is a M27 (pretty sure it is a M27 and not a "put together" rifle)..good shape overall with matching #s
on the bolt and barrel...no numbers on floorplate...good bore..what is it worth??
thanks in advance! |

Go to gunbroker.com, search on them, then select "completed auctions" to see what they've actually sold for.

In NC, Finns are relatively cheap.
This is because in the 80's-90's, Roses Department store sold a boatload of them for $29-$50. As such there's more Finns per capita here in NC than most places south of Helsinki. I've picked up M27's for less than $100 locally. Typical pricing is between $200-$300, if the seller knows what it is. Internet pricing? Depending on condition can be $300-$500 or so. We've got quite a few Parallaxers here in NC. Where are you located? FWIW, I paid $125 for this M27 at the last gunshow in Greensboro.
Life is the crummiest book I ever read, there isn't a hook; Just a lot of cheap shots, pictures to shock, and characters an amateur would never dream up... |

NICE M27, Pitbull.
I'm amazed that went for $125. You wouldn't touch it for less than double that around here, assuming they knew what they had. |

I have found only one M27 here in the good ole Pacific NorthWest - It was bubba'd - although I did find a 28-30 locally & it was inexpensive(99 bucks),
and a few other Finned 91's to 91-30's. They are pretty scarce around here.
Pittbull pretty much nailed the going rates for these - The last couple M27's I bought off auction were 200 and 275, one was bubba'd, but had a great barreled action - It is now near completely restored. Pahtu. |

I got lucky today and found a refurb M27 for $170 OTD. I figure it's easily worth a hundred more.
With M27's, you have original, and then post-war arsenal (AV3) refurb'd rifles that were reblued and restocked. |

H0mer2 wrote: I'd agree. At least I'd pay that for one. I'd try to talk them down. but haggling has become very much part of my gun buying, as of late. I'd still buy it if they wouldn't move on the price. |

I haggle too. In this case, it's a pawn shop that took this rifle
out of pawn less than a week ago, so they weren't moving on price. They did knock off the tax, so I did get something. She's a real gem and the shop
was far enough away that it didn't make sense to leave and chance one of you guys stumbling upon it before I drove back in several weeks.

I picked up a good M-27 here in Northern Idaho about five years ago. It was at a small local gun show and the seller did not have a clue as to what it was,
other than it was Finnish. I have taken it to the range a couple of times and it shoots as good as any of the Mosin Nagants in my collection, but I did not
know that they were rare or special. To me, it is just another foreign milsurp rifle, like my Czech 98/22 or Yugo M24/47 rifles. Maybe I should dig it out of
storage someday and take a careful look at what I have. Who knows, it may be worth a lot more than I paid for it?

Oh yeah, you have to strike before anyone else does, especially if you hear that Zebill's fixing to make another road trip.
The obvious problem with that is they usually need motivation to haggle and a rifle not moving in a couple of weeks really isn't going to bother them. If I'm in a place where these things tend to move quickly, I decide how bad I want it vs. what I can spend and act accordingly. I know a place that's been sitting on a rare Westinghouse-barreled (and, I expect receivered) Finn-captured "Enfield" (according to the tag ) I want that thing pretty bad, but it just isn't worth the nearly
$500 they're asking. Once they start getting a little more reasonable on their expectations, I'll see what kind of deal I can strike with them. I'm
willing to let that one sit, because I know no one else is going to bite at that price.
The M28 I just bought was priced fairly, but I knew there was little chance anyone in my area would appreciate what it was and my gamble paid off (is it really a gamble if I didn't have the money before?) I just bought it for $115 under their original asking price. It really wasn't a unbelievable deal, but it was a good enough deal to ensure I was going to buy it. Anymore, if the deal is right and you have the cash, you have to jump on it before someone else does. I wouldn't have blinked about paying what you did for that rifle. I think you did very well. |

You did not get hurt there at all regardless of condition frankly! Don't worry about old zeebill till spring as I am snowed in on the mountain till spring
the way it looks. Last road trip I took was last night with the neighbors in their 4 wheel drive for pizza and food buying. I can get off here the problems
arise when I try to get back up to the house on the hill from hell without 4 wheel drive! Congrats! Bill
