xd shooting low |
Lead | |
|
i have shot around 300 rounds through my xd40 and it still is shooting 3"-4" low at around 10 yards. i have shot around 4 different types and loads
but no luck.i talked to 2 different gun smiths and they tald me that there are no shorter front sights.one told me to get use to it shooting low and another
said that he could shoot it and file the sight down some .i am lining up the dots now so if i have it filed down any it looks to me like it will be into the
front dot or below it .anyone have any problems with theirs shooting low. i know it is not all my part because i can take the 45 and hit where i aim at.even
though my eyes are not what they were.

I have an XD40 service, an XD9sc, and an XD45c.
All of them shoot POA. I'd have someone else shoot it, just to be sure and call Springfield if the problem persists. The have a good CS rep. and I'm sure they'll take care of you. |

Is your sight picture "pumpkin on a fence post"?
I've found w/ most white dot sights they are regulated to cover the target w/ the front dot. I'm not particularly fond of this sight picture because if you're shooting at something small the target is obscured, but that's the way they work. Try covering teh target w/ the front sight. If you're already shooting it that way, call Springfield. They have excellent customer service and will likely just have you ship the slide back to them to check it out. |

that is how i have been doing it.i plan on going next week to shoot it again and let someone else try it also .i just hate having to take it somewhere to ship
it.would they ship it back to me or to a shop

You could ship just the slide, which can go via UPS ground, FedEx, or even USPS. It's not a firearm.

I'm sure you can ship it directly to them, although it might be a pain.
They might issue a call tag, which would simplify things. I'm not positive, but I believe they can ship it directly back to you. |

3" to 4" low at 10 yards is extremely off. I assume the different loads you tried had various bullet weights, but at 10 yards the bullet weight
shouldn't make much difference. Have you tried it from a sandbagged rest to make sure you aren't somehow pulling down on the gun as you pull the
trigger? If I got the same results from a rested position, I'd call Springfield and see what they had to say.

shot it today and it was shooting alittle low but not as bad as it was.l let my future son in law try it and it done about the same for him shooting about 2
inches low.we were using blazer ammo and i had 2 failure to feed with it and had never had that happen ,seith had a couple that fould not go off on the first
try with his glock from blazer ammo. after the second box of ammo the xd started to shoot tighter groups and shot more to the point of ain , i even got in a
few center ring shots, either i am getting use to the 3 dot sights or it is finaly starting to break in. we both were able to do alot better on the end. it
still does not have 500 rounds shot through it yet.manual said it needs 500 through it, i did find out that i like the 5" barrel for shooting over the
4" on the glock, it felt like it had way more recoil from it when shooting.
seith even like the way the xd felt when he shot it over his glock |

I have a XD-9 sub 3 inch barrel 9mm. I can bench shoot good but free handed my pattern is spread wide. This is at 12 to 25 yards.I would like to shrink in the pattern.can anyone suggest any really helpful set of sights for a pair of 56 year old eyes. I have no problems with any other of my guns the closet to the XD-9 is a compact Jericho 941 9mm 3 and 1/2 inch barrel and I can keep the shots in a doughnut.

i went to see if i could change the sight on mine and the gunsmith told me he could find some type for mine ,but he wanted to see me shoot it.itold him part of it was the sights and part of it was my glasses and that it would be eaiser to change sights than to buy shooting glasses.

Yea I understand the glasses problem I wear bifocals. I was thinking of either XS sights or Suresights some type with a quicker picture. Any one out there know about the Sure sights they seem to be simple and fast?
