Re: M95 ammo pouches (reply)
It's hard to tell from the few photos, but the first 2 look like Bulgarian Mosin pouches, as they do not appear to have the shape of the pouches made for the angled M95 clips and ammo. The dark brown one might be Ww2 Bulgarian - some...

Re: M95 ammo pouches (reply)
I was hoping someone with definitive knowledge would've answered this one by now. I was told that the leather pouches are Yugoslavian/Serbian in origin. The green canvas ones are from Bulgaria or Romania. They are not knock-off's but...

M95 ammo pouches (topic)
Any idea if these are post-war Bulgarian knock-off's or what? Thanks. Cleaning out the garage. Davehttp://www.fototime.com/ftweb/bin/ft.dll/pictures?userid=2664F7BAC8E14EFD8056DC5A351B615D&albumid={A74B503E-2D21-4CB7-9D53-D9A8521D3A47}

Re: Ammunition belt (reply)
Dorsey in "U.S. Martial Web Belts and Bandoleers: 1903-1981" 1993, identifies your belt as the Cartridge Belt, (Dismounted) M1917. Each pocket intended to carry two 5-round charger clips for caliber-.30 ammunition. This is the first...

Looks real to me. If it's s repro, they picked an odd company to reproduce. After typing in Long Manufacturer US web belt and ammo pouches, I found a few links: http://www.hayesotoupalik.com/U.S.%20Ammo%20Belts%20&%20Pouches.htm...

Also posted on GB...I bought this at a gun show about 10-12 years ago for the princely sum of $25. I never really thought it was an actual, authentic US piece but I would like to know whatever there is to know about it. The condition is...

Re: some military compasses (reply)
That one on the left is a Waltham and is a typical example of a WWII compass included in airmen survival kits.The one on right would be closer to those found in the First War (My g'pa and his brother were in the same arty battery in WWI)...

That looks exactly like those in the picture, but the old black and white photo made them look darker. I can't believe they could get rough-out leather to look that smooth. Thanks.

Re: Polished buckle combat boots?? (reply)
Are you sure they were not just dubbed and polished? That was a common practice. After dubbing, brown shoepolish was sometimes used, and buffed to a shine.  This is not a great picture, but these boots still exhibit some shine, tho...
