Posts: 2349 Apr 17 07 11:18 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	Tags : None Also scored a Mk VI Webley at the last El Paso show. Still in .455 caliber. Got a box of Dominion ".455 Colt" ammo although it has the Webley length case, not the Colt length. I don't have my manuals in front of me so I can't tell how much longer the Colt is. I'll look for more Dominion stuff at later gun shows (and expect to pay through the nose for it). A few questions: 1. Anybody got some good loads for this round, preferably with bullseye, Unique, 231, AA 3 or AA5 powder? 2. I have a Lyman 45 Colt 250 gr mould that throws .454" bullets. I plan to cast them soft and use them unsized. Will this cause problems? 3. What do you do for dies? Is there a source for fairly cheap .455 Webley dies? Will 45 Colt dies work? Will they work if the seater is shortened to the point it will crimp the .455 Webley case?

Posts: 16 Apr 22 07 5:22 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	I have a set of Lee .455 Webley dies. They're inexpensive and work well. They have a trim tool that works well too. I used Hornady brass but I think it is the same stuff as Grafs. For powder, I used BullsEye but can't remember the charge.

I'd like to match the bullet to the bore if possible, although I also plan to measure the chamber throats also. That pistol is an impressive hunk of ironmongery. I can see how a user would feel comfortable with one in his hand, hiding in a shell hole out in no-man's land while the Germans poked around the area.

Posts: 433 Aug 19 12 8:33 PM active member Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	I have fired thousands of .455 rounds with flat based cast bullets with no problems if the loading data was adhered to. I personally stay away from max loads in handloading and tend to be in the middle data and work my way up from starting loads. I agree with the other advice here to use the LEE .455 dies which are cheap, but well made and work well for unshaved and shaved Webleys. In the shaved Webleys after firing .45 Auto-Rim or .45 ACP I use the appropriate shell holder and the LEE .455 dies to reload them. Using 250 grain .454 sized bullets is mostly what I use because my Webleys and other guns shoot them very well.
