Winchester Mod 70 questions |

I know nothing about these things first off. My co-worker was given a model 70 in 30.06 Ackley improved. Looks like a custom rebarrel. Vey heavy barrel,
recessed target crown. Only markings are 3006 IMP. Receiver serial is G1256315. Jeweled bolt. Looks like original checkering in the grip. Has a nice
Leupold scope and wever bases. VG++ condition with high sheen bluing, nice stock with a couple knicks here. Over all a 95% gun. Can anyone tell me anything
about 70's (approximate age, possible era for rebarreling, and a value?) He wants to dump it as he got a nice remington in 270 and needs the cash to fund
other toys. Any thoughts??

Its value as a collectible Winchester is nil.
Its value as a useable rifle is around $400.00-$500.00. You don't say who the barrel mfg. is,length etc. Guesstimate mfg. date as mid-late "70s. .30-'06 Ackley Imp is a fun cartridge;especially if he lucked into a good 26 inch hvy bbl.
