What about this pistol |

Considering getting a FEG Hungarian PR63. Will use it for carry gun and mostly plinking since ammo is available. Not real knowledgable about this pistol. Any
info appreciated THANKS

Great value for a PPK like pistol. I forget my designations, is the one you want the .32 or the 9mm Mak? The .32's are sweet, the Mak has some
uncomfortable recoil. Not bad, but it can make it less fun as a plinker.
Also, because of the fixed barrel, these guns tend to be very accurate, despite rudimentery sights. |

Neat little guns for sure. The only negative I can see is that some of them have a very, very heavy double action pull. With a little work they can be
lightened up a little.

PA63 is a nice little back up. Double action is, for sure, rough. After take down, remember that the
spring goes on the barrel via small end. Also, some parts are interchangeable with the FEG .32 caliber.

I had a PA63 (9x18), and didn't really care for it. Very harsh to shoot. Also the extractor spring broke. Walther PP spring will work, but by the time
you run it down, you've spent half the price of the pistol. I gave the pistol to a friend who chased down the spring - he liked it so much he bought one
for his daughter. Extractor spring on that one broke too. He ended up buying her a CZ82 - wasn't willing to go through the spring ordeal again.

With it's longer barrel, the PA63 is more like a Walther PP than a PPK. I have a commercial version in .380-ACP, called the PMK-380 that is my CCDW carry
weapon. It's flawlessly fed every brand of ammo except Remington, which causes the ocassional stove-pipe jam.

Are those Marshal custom grips? I have some on my PA-63 and I love them. Monogramed with my initials even.

Actually CDNN store-brand specials. I think they cost me $9.95 back when CDNN had them; I'm not sure if they still carry them, though?

Had one in 9x18. hated it. Painful recoil in my hand due to the Walther PP grip angle and the DA pull was so heavy it was really an SA pistol. Filed off and
filled in the thumb rest. Still hurt to shoot. Put in a lighter spring - DA still unacceptable.
Sold it, bought some EG Makarovs and love them. BTW, the outside looked good but it was pretty rough machined inside. Definitely not Walther quality even if it does look close. |
