It appears to be in great shape and the scope is unmarked and beleive to be issued with the scope (German make?). What would be a fair price for this jewel?

Consequently, a lot of standard K98's have been turned into fake snipers. To the point that knowledgeable collectors believe that there are more fake ones out there than real ones. You can check Gunbroker.com and select "completed auctions" to see if any comparable rifles have sold lately. I hope you can get someone to help verify the rifle's provenance. If you're new at this, it's easy to get ripped off. Regards, Crunch

They are worth many thousands of dollars. Papers really don't mean much as they are easily and commonly faked. Many detailed pics will be necessary and even then it will be a tough call.
