Centerfire has put a "bare bones" Romanian PSL on sale (no scope, no scope-mount, only 1 magazine) for $449. I think I'm going to drive over
and buy one today. Where would I find a correct scope and mount, and about how much will they cost me?

Several set ups on GB right now, Bean. Scope and mount, scope or mount..... I typed PSL scope into the search...Might be more under different search.

It actually is much better than buying PSL with an original scope- you can buy a russian SVD 8x42 POSP for about 200 bucks, or get a zoom from Kalinka Optics
or any other dealer...beats the original romanian 4x24 not multicoated optic hands down:))))

A search of GB, AA, and eBay turned up several potential deals... I went over to Centerfire today, and they were all out of the PSL's. Ed said they got 60 last week which all sold the first day, 50 more this week which also sold in one day, they expect 50 more in a week or two, and I got my back-order in as number 30 waiting in line... -Bean

Well, Ed called me this morning to let me know that they had received the shipment of PSL's. I went over and picked this one up today.

None, my accessory friend.
The deal is "bare bones", you get the rifle and one mag for $449. Still, considering that these were $749 with scope, sling, two mags, and other accessories just a couple of months ago, I think I can acquire the scope & accessories for less than the $300 difference. I already bought an extra mag for $24.99.

very well . We've had a very blustery week or so here too. 50mph winds and near zero temps. Below zero windchill. I think I'm done shootin for the

I bought one last year about this time for $699 with the accessories. I had to refinish all the wood on mine as the finish was coming off. Not too tough, but
it looks like yours will escape that fate which is fortunate. I went with an 8x42 illuminated POSP from Belarus. Nice dang scope for just under $200. If they
had the 'bare bones' option back then, I would have jumped on it. Just stay away from the heavy bullets in it and you'll be set!

I bought this 8X42 illuminated Russian scope off of eBay for $110 plus shipping:

Looks like I'm out about $615 or so, after adding the scope & accessories. -Bean

No goofy, I meant the mag pouch that has all of the goodies in it as well as the mags!

Looking at the e-bay sale page for that 8x scope you purchased earlier in the month for your PSL ... leads me to consider the possibility you may be
disappointed.
Thing is the scope in the pic is manufactrured for use on AK-style rifles, and not for SVDs and PSLs (different mount required for them). Hoping I'm wrong. Let us know how it works out for you. |
