Hot Shot & Mitchell's ammo

Posts: 125 (02/04/10 05:52 PM) active member Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	Tags : None Just bought 7 boxes ( 4 Hotshot, 3 Mitchell - 140 rounds ) of 8mm ammo for $50.00. The best part, I think, is the fact that the brass is reloadable. With a name like 7reloaders you know I'm diggin' that! Not to mention I have a son named Mitchell. Anyone have any experience shooting this ammo? Just looking for your thoughts. I'm still partial to the old milsup stuff, but as I said, I can reload this new ammo. Thanks!

Posts: 516 (02/08/10 05:44 PM) Veteran member Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	Depends on the type of shooting you are doing. It all goes bang and is good enough for plinking or silouhettes. Hotshot is CIA store brand. It can be made anywhere, usually Privi P. It depends on where they have the contract with at the time it was made. Mitchells is basically the same deal. IIRC it is made by PP also. If you want exc. consistancy and accuracy, specially for long range work, you cannot beat M75 Yugo or Yugo from the seventies. Some of the fifites Yugo is also exc. You will find that info. on reloading 8mm is not easy to find. If you are into accuracy. Most all are good enough for plinking and even hunting with SP. SAMCO may have some boxer primed 8mm left, made by Hirtenberger and priced right. A am assuming you are shooting the M48s. Of course they are all Berdan primed. We have tried a lot of combinations in reloading 8mm and have ony been able to come up to par with the M75 Yugo 196 grain. The best combo. we found years ago, is using German P coded ammo bullets which have no equal that we found for long range work. They fly better than anything else we found.
