It is absolutely pristine. Made in 1977 and Unfired/ unissued --should I shoot it? I hate to get it all dirty!!!!

I got it to shoot of course! I plan to try it out next week.If it shoots as good as it looks, I'm delighted!

The BBT just delivered mine Wednesday. 1979, Like new with only slight holster wear on the sharp edges. Took it to the range Thursday. I sure hope you're not as dissapointed as I was! The best I could do was a 5 shot group of 1 1/2 " at 10 yards off hand!!! Then it continued to shoot up the remaining 45 rounds of Winchester White Box 115 gr. ammo without one single glitch. I think you shouldn't even atempt to try yours. get rid of it ASAP. I can send you a PM with my info so I can take it off your hands!!! smiley: happy

i had one in the late 60s - i couldnt hit a thing , but it was a fun gun with very fine mechanics ,

Hell, yes. While being a nice gun, it has no significant historical value. Not like the wartime P-38.

I just ordered one of AIM's on Wednesday, the 1st. Got here yesterday. Mfg on slide 9/79. Renumbered slide. Finish on frame and slide is excellent. Bore is excellent. A few scratches on grips, mag dated 5/59. I.O. import mark under barrel barely readable. Came with German camo holster dated 03/95, like new.

Bought an AC43 P38 back in early 60's. GI bringback. $20. Traded it later. Don't want to list all the other dumb things I've done over the years... This P1 brings back memories. These just fit my hand perfectly!

Steve 7/16/2011 Finally got it to the range. Fired commercial and hand loaded 115 gr. Very accurate and pleasant to shoot. Definitely a winner!

Well...so far..have about 2000 rounds thru mine! I shoot at the side of a barn, and hit it! Thing is a blast to shoot.

And just cleaning it, makes me fell the that the old critiizism of German designs is true...that is ''' Needlessly complex to accomplish the task".
Sooo many springs...soo many pins and parts...but they always seem to work! Bought some 'replacment' parts just in case, but have not
had to use any. She is shootin just fine. Fun gun. Bought a shoulder holster from Pacifica Canvas and Leather for about $40 bucks. Nice to carry in the filed.
