I recently bought my first Mil-surp Mosin 91/30 to shoot with my son. I'm hooked. He loves it because it's our first large caliber rifle and it hits what we shoot at. My first shot on a 200 yard steel rang the bell. My second on a 300 yard steel hit the mark. It took my 12 year old 3 shots to ring the bell at 200. We picked up shooting 2 years ago. We went shooting with my father-in-law who is a longtime hunter. I don't know why we never did before, but he took us over to a range one day and we shot his childhood bolt 22 rifle, a Marlin Semi-Auto and a revolver. My son said the same thing to me that he told me after I took him out fishing on Lake Tahoe in our Kayak, "That was the most fun I ever had!" Well, as with the fishing, how can you ignore that?
He got a Ruger 10/22 for Christmas a few weeks later. I followed soon after with a Ruger Mark III Target and we were both hooked.

Here are some photos of our Mosin. We just picked up a Yugo M48 which is cleaned and the ammo just arrived in the mail, so I can't wait to get out there with that one. Here are some photos taken while visiting my father-in-law over this past Thanksgiving.
