I have mentioned before that my great-grandfather, O.W. Norton, was the first bugler ever to play Taps. That happened in 1862 at Harrison's Landing, Virginia, after the Seven Days Battles. O.W. was the regimental bugler for the regiment then commanded by Gen. Daniel Butterfield. Well, there's going to be a ceremony and reenactment at Harrison's Landing (now known as Berkeley Plantation) June 22-24, 2012. You can get details about this event at www.taps150.org.
