I have always wanted an 1885 "high wall" single shot rifle and lucked into an Uberti replica recently in 45-70. It is the Special Sport model with a 30" octagonal barrel complete with Marbles' rear creedmore sight and a Lyman globe front with inserts. It weighs about 10lbs and has a nice trigger that breaks at 3lbs.
I plan to load for it and enter it in our 300 yard sniper event at our club's next steel plate match if I can get it to consistantly hit inside the 8x13" targets that represent the steel plates we shoot in the matches. It would be cool to win the sniper event with such a rifle IMHO?
