I've seen a manual which told troops to lube their cartridges, with light oil, used in the Ljungman. I've never owned one and have only read what others posted about them. If I were given a choice, looking at two rifles, I would chose the one in the best condition.

" (Wikipedia, "Grease Fitting") There wasn't a grease fitting on my AG42B either, but like most firearms that have been fired a bit, it clearly showed bright areas where moving parts are in contact during operation, primarily small portions of the carrier, bolt, hammer, and receiver rails. Logic dictates that these areas should be lubed to prevent wear and enhance function. In addition, we have this advice in a translated AG42B manual from "Anders & Petter" - "Lube the magazine with # 042 lubricant. Cartridges and action should be lubed when loading the rifle. During longer firing pauses the chamber should be cleaned with the tool and lubed with # 042 lubricant." Now all we lack is the precise nature of "#042 lubricant". My guess is that it's a medium/light viscosity, petroleum-base, lubricating and corrosion-inhibiting oil. Yeah...I've not seen a Zerk fitting on any firearm, but realize that many semi autos need to be lubricated. Thanks for the helpful observation. Posts: 643 Jul 26 12 12:06 AM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	Thanks, parashooter I removed the bolt and lubed the bolt rails, bolt cover rails, and the top of the hammer, where the bolt rides over it with plastilube grease. I used one of my Ljungman's at the match and my sons used my Garand. All went well with the Ljungman. I also received a Field Manual for the FN 49 from a poster on another forum and got some insight on how to lube them. I have a couple of Egyptians, a Lux, and a Venezuelan FN49 and have fired them only sparingly becaus eI wasn't sure how to clean and lube them. Per Bing translate... " Lubricating oil 042 is a lubricant and corrosion protection oil consisting of petroleum fractions as well as for its purposes the appropriate additives which improve the oil lubrication and corrosion preventive properties, and counteracts oxidation." I think you are probably spot on about what #042 lubricant is, Parashooter. In the absence of this information, I used the same grease that I use on my Garands. It seemed to work fine, but may not be optimal. I've heard differing opinions about lubing cases for use in the Ljungman and appreciate the information from the manual that it is recommended. I've used Borden's slide-all, a dry film lubricant, in the past with Swedish surplus ammo. Since this was a silhouette match, range rules forbid the use of FMJ surplus ammo. I shot the Hornady 6.5x55 match ammo, unlubricated (forgot the Borden's) and had no problems, although I was shooting the Ljungman "single round". Posts: 4069 Nov 13 12 11:21 PM Veteran member Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	I have a Ljungman. DO NOT OIL YOUR ROUNDS UNLESS YOU LIKE HOT OIL BURNING YOUR HANDS AND oN YOUR FACE. No reason to oil clean cartridges (at least with my rifle). I use graphite based lube on the rails. I had FANTASTIC results with FNM but they are out of business. Privi Partisan is pretty good. hsc
