I found this rusty piece when we moved to a new property. I was looking through the barn and came across it. I hope some experts / hobbyists are willing to have a go at identifying it for me. Also, a feather, the one shown in the pictures, was found inside the handle. If any of you have any information on why a feather would be in there that would be really cool. The feather is bound at the bottom with a green tape of some kind, and it is preserved very well. There are no identifiable marking on the bayonet. If there were then they are probably rusted off by now. Thanks.

really need a picture or two, i have nearly 4000 bayoents in my database so it coudl be any one of these

The bayonet is the M1896 Swedish Mauser bayonet. No idea about the feather....... smiley: wink

Never pay too much mind to the avatars until its soemone i see alot, agreed though its an 1896 and looks like the first rusty one i have ever seen

I've never been able to see peoples pictures or albums in their profiles. A few weeks ago I figured out that I have to go to the profile, then log in again, and then I can see em. Then I have to log out from the profile and log out again from the forums...... smiley: indifferent
